Introduction

The State Key Laboratory of Catalysis (SKLC) was founded in 1987 as one of the first State Key Laboratories in China. The current director is Prof. Zhongwei Chen, the chairman of the Academic Committee is Prof. Mingyuan He. The Academic Committee is composed of 31 distinguished scientists in the field of catalysis in China. In addition, the SKLC invites 16 well-known scientists to its International Advisory Committee. The SKLC has 8 independent research groups and 1 analytical services & administration team. The laboratory has 111 permanent staffs, including 89 professors, 84 associate professors; 119 post-doctorial fellows and over 280 graduate students. 3 professors have been elected as Members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 2 professor has been elected as Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering; 1 professor has been elected both as the Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering; 3 professors have been elected as members of the Academy of Sciences for Developing World (TWAS); 1 professor has been elected as Foreign Member of Academia Europaea; 1 professor has been elected as Honorary Fellow and 5 professors have been elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. 20 professors were invited to be associate editor, members of editorial board and international advisory board of more than ten international journals. 19 professors are awardees of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 5 professors are awardees of the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars.

In 2004, 2009 and 2014, the SKLC has been consecutively ranked as "Excellent Laboratory" (Level 'A') among all State Key Laboratories in the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China.
